I’d like to talk a little bit about SEO guarantees and what I see as the problems inherent in them. First of all, for the most part these guarantees are utterly useless. An SEO company will give a customer a guarantee of say top ranking on 20 search terms. Then present the customer with a list of 200 or so keywords. These lists include great terms like Cheap Web Hosting, Quality Web Hosting, etc. But these are only keywords, these are not the 20 top ranking terms. The top ranking ones are more likely to be something like ‘affordable blog webhosting in Scottsdale Arizona’ or some such useless term which is obviously ranked number one because no one has ever searched such a useless term before. Paying for top ranking of useless terms is a total waste of time. (more…)

I’d like to bring to your attention a great ebook and it’s accompanying website all about SEO (search engine optimization) written by Aaron Wall. The site is SEOBook.com, and the book is entitled Aaron Wall’s SEO Book, with the impressive subtitle, ‘The only SEO book on the planet’. As far as I know this claim is true, and it’s so packed full of usefull, timely information that it seems there really is no need for another one. SEO companies have a dirty little secret, and it really gets on my nerves. Most people usually sign it without giving it a second though, but the non-disclosure agreement is the secret weapon of the SEO world. Why are they required and what purpose do they serve? Well, I hope to shed a bit of light on what purpose I think they serve in the world of SEO, probably not the purpose most SEO companies would want you to believe. (more…)
